Equal splits
Split any bill evenly among all or selected members with a single tap. Money Split handles the maths — including rounding remainders — so every cent is accounted for.
Exact amounts
Assign a specific dollar amount to each person. Perfect for itemized restaurant bills where everyone ordered something different.
Percentage splits
Allocate costs as percentages. Great for sharing rent or utilities where one person has a larger room.
Share-based splits
Assign weighted shares (e.g. 1 share, 2 shares) and Money Split divides the total proportionally — useful for recurring group costs.

Groups
Multiple group types
Create groups for any scenario: trips, home/housemates, couples, or a custom catch-all group. Each has its own expense feed and balance view.
Invite by email
Add group members by email address. They receive a branded invite email and join with a single click.
Admin controls
Group admins can rename or delete the group, remove members, and toggle Simplify Debts mode.
Expense feed
A chronological feed of every expense in the group — who paid, how it was split, and what each person owes.
Balances & Settlements
Real-time balances
Net balances update the instant an expense is added or a payment is recorded. No refresh needed.
Simplify debts
The debt-simplification algorithm reduces a web of IOUs to the minimum number of transfers needed to settle everyone in the group — fewer transactions, less friction.
Record settlements
Mark a debt as paid directly in the app. Both parties see the settlement immediately and the balance clears.
Cross-group overview
The dashboard shows your net position across every group — total you are owed, total you owe — at a glance.
Security & Privacy
Secure authentication
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt (cost 12). Short-lived JWT access tokens (15 min) plus 30-day refresh tokens stored in HttpOnly cookies — never accessible to JavaScript.
Rate limiting
All API endpoints are rate-limited using a sliding-window algorithm to prevent abuse and brute-force attacks.
Email verification
New accounts must verify their email before accessing the app. Verification links expire after 24 hours.
Account deletion
Delete your account at any time. All personal data is permanently removed in compliance with GDPR.
